I thought it would be fun to do a guestbook for those who come and visit my little corner of the world. It would be fun to hear from you, would you sign my guestbook? ~Shyloh~

The Rocks Will Cry Out...

Luke 19:40
But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

I never put much thought into this verse, until a conversation that I was involved in a few days ago. I was talking with a few girls from the College & Career group, and we were talking about a country of who's name I can't remember (I think it was Iran...? But I'm not positive.) One of the girls was telling a few of us how in this country there have been huge numbers of people coming forth with "visions." They claim that they heard Jesus' voice, or saw an angel, and a few other things. While we were talking about Iran specifically, apparently these "visions" are becoming quite frequent in other countries as well, countries where there aren't many missionaries, or it is hard to get missionaries into. As the conversation was going on I was scoffing to myself, "Yea right...when was the last time someone had a "vision?" Wasn't it someone like Saul? Or someone else from the bible?" (What was I thinking? I know that still to this day visions are reality and people do have them, but I was finding it hard to believe in the mass quantity that these girls were talking about.)During the conversation, one of the girls quoted Luke 19:40. The conversation ended a few minutes later, but my mind was still working. I kept thinking (and still have been thinking) how Luke 19:40 ties into our conversation. I realized that in these countries where missionaries are scarce...how else will people hear about God other than in visions? I had always assumed that this verse was simply a metaphor of some type but never read anymore deeply into it. After this conversation I started to pick apart the verse in my head, I realized that it means what it means...literally. Jesus wants everyone to hear about him, no matter who they are or where they are. If they live in a country where missionaries are scarce, should he (Jesus)just sign them off as "hopeless?" Should he give up and say, "Oh well, there's nobody around to tell him about me anyways, at least he's only one person." No, that's not how our God works. If we can't (or don't) do our jobs and spread the word...God will find other ways. His name will get out.
