Yee Gads, there are a lot of boring blogs on blogger. Have any of you ever just scrolled through the random people's blogs? If you haven't--save your precious time!! If you have...well then you know what I mean.
Today I went with my dad, Shelbie, Shaylah, Shayden, Shannen and Shadd to 6flags for a "big kid ride day" at the amusement park. It was a lot of fun!! We've never gone before, just us "big people." Usually we always have the littles in tow and spend a good portion of our time in the Looney Tune kiddie ride area, but today the whole day was devoted to the "Big kid rides!"
We headed out this morning around 10ish. First we went to the 99 cent store and loaded up on snacks. Daddy is kind of fun to shop with. He always goes way overboard, but of course, we all love it. The boys kept giggling and whispering: "I love shopping with Daddy." (As they're holding bags of cookies, beef jerky, fiddle faddle and their own soda.) We definitely were set on snacks.
We got to 6flags around 1:30. We had already eaten lunch, so we were able to quickly unload and head in. First Daddy loaded up his backpack. I think we all forgot we wouldn't have the stroller with us today to carry all of our junk in. Poor Daddy's backpack weighed like 30lbs! (Ok...maybe not 30!)
It was very cold when we got there! We were all complaining about the fact that we always bring sweaters when we go to 6flags. The one day we didn't bring one is the one day that its cold.
Oh, and the parking lot was SOOOO crowded. Thankfully lines in the park weren't that bad, but it looked really scary from the parking lot.
We took the tram up to the opening and prayed all the way in that the security guards who check bags and purses wouldn't notice how heavy Daddy's backpack was. (Who wouldn't (or couldn't!) notice something that heavy?!) The guy definitely did notice that it was heavy, and did a quick check. Thankfully Daddy packed smartly, thus they never saw our waters and snacks. (No food or drinks allowed in the park...booo!)
We all had certain rides we wanted to ride, so Daddy made us start at one end of the park and work our way over--which was a nice orderly way of doing things. We started out first with the "Monkey rides." Then we made our way to the water ride.
We were still contemplating whether we were really going to ride the ride or not, (remember it was COLD!) so while we waited we watched some people spray the riders with those big obnoxious water guns. (You know the .25 cent machines that shoot water?) Then we figured out that one of the machines was broken, thus it was shooting every time someone pushed the button. This was good news for us. We spent the next several minutes wickedly spraying passerbyes and laughing hysterically. Daddy's "demon" voice came out, sweet little Shelbie's wickedness came out and the boys...well they were what all little boys can be when given the chance to douse strangers with water. I video taped the incident, but it's so ugly to watch that I won't post it for you all to see.
After spraying about 10 boats passing by, Daddy said, "We need to get them to look at us before we spray them." So he devised a wicked scheme to pretend to "take their picture" and as we take it, spray them. During Daddy's scheming, someone mentioned it'd be fun to get another gun going for a "double whammy." So of course, everyone starts pushing the "coin return" buttons on the machine to see if anything falls out. Soo...a boat comes by, and Daddy starts yelling with his camera. They all look up at us, and I (first time I got to spray anyone) eagerly pushed the button and....nothing. When my genius siblings pushed the "coin return" button it 'Fixed' our broken machine and ended our funness. (yes, that is a word.)
We sadly moved on. We got in line, and were on the ride after a short-longish (yes that's possible) wait. The whole time Shelbie and I shivered and shook because we were cold. But being the fun people we are, we decided not to be the buzz killers of the trip and we rode the cold wet water ride. Things were going great for us, we weren't getting very wet and we were actually having fun when we came around the corner (to where all the water guns are) and there was a person at all 4 guns ready and aimed at us. My sisters decided not to warn me, and they immediately ducked. It was too late for me. I got the wrath of 4 hard core water guns sprayed right at me. The guys in the boat ahead (daddy and brothers) were all laughing and pointing at me, rubbing it in that they were smart enough to duck. Grrr... I came off that ride very wet and very cold. But it was fun.
After that I forget which rides we rode. But I do remember at some point in the afternoon riding the "Tasmanian Devil." That ride is seriously the Devil. I got off that thing dizzy and feeling kind of green. I never fully recovered, and spent the rest of the afternoon dragging a bit behind, holding everyone else up.
We rode several more rides, and had a lot of fun. We did a lot of giggling, goofing off and being weird. We left around 6:30.
On the way home we got 2 Little Ceasars Pizzas. In the parkinglot there was a homeless man going through his bags trying to find something warm. After we had gotten our pizzas, prayed and was passing it out, the homeless man had his stuff packed up and was moving on. I'm not sure if his bags were really heavy or if he was really weak, but he was struggling with them. Without saying anything, Daddy pulled up next to him and asked if he wanted a piece of pizza. I've never seen anyone more excited about a slice of little ceasars pizza in my life. He was so grateful.
I was happy that the Lord gave us that oppertunity, as on the ride to 6flags (and a conversation theme all afternoon) was on the topic of nobody being friendly anymore in this world. So many times today we'd let people go in front of us at rides, returned a man's fly away 5 dollar bill, gave up a seat for a lady and her kid, and on and on and on and nobody smiles. Nobody says thanks. How many times today were we cut off? Bumped? Pushed? Ect and nobody appologizes. Nothing. Everybody is so self consumed and selfish and flat out self absorbed and rude!!
Daddy was telling stories that afternoon about people jumping off the Golden gate bridge. The statistics are insane! About 1 person a day jumps off that bridge. I guess some documentary movie was made about the suicides on that bridge, the people who made the documentary set up a camera to film the bridge. During the filming (1 week) the saw 5 people jump. Amongst those 5, not one person stopped to ask what they were doing, try to persuade them to live, try to talk to them or anything! In fact, for one person, two tourist stopped to ask him to take their picture before he jumped. How sad!
But anyways, back to the pizza story. After an afternoon of becoming discouraged by the rudeness of people and the lack of concern or friendliness, I was so happy to bring that homeless man a smile. Daddy did something so small, so easy, so simple...yet that man will remember that small act for days and know that there is somebody out there who is still nice and friendly. And that's what he will keep living for.
All in all, the day was lovely! The only thing that would have made it more lovely, is if my man had been with us.
We got home around 9:30ish. I took a nice hot bath, while my siblings watched "Bedtime stories." I came out half way through it and finished it with them. After it was over, the little boys went to bed and us big people sat dazed and exhausted on the couch. My dad said, "Anybody want to watch 'Jursassic Park?'" But everyone was too tired and lazy to get up and put it in, so guess what? Yea, we pressed play again. We watched "Bedtime stories" twice tonight!! How pathetic and sad is that?
Eventually everyone went to bed, leaving me and Maycie up. Maycie ran around for a while being naughty, whilst I chased her and fumed to myself over the fact that she's still a horribly naughty puppy. (GGGGRRRRRR!!!!!)
Then I got on the computor while waiting for Jeff to text at his break. By the time he finally texted, I was knee deep in this post...and simply can not stop til it's finished. So now, it's 2:15 and I can't go to sleep at this hour, because if I do, I'll miss Jeff's "I'm here" text. Sigh. So I have an hour and a half to go til he gets off. Ugh...
Before I started blogging this evening, I was looking at recipies online. I've really been wanting to try one recipe, but now I've found a few more along the same line... Cake in a jar!! The others along the same line are Pies in a jar and Cobblers in a jar. It's litterally what it sounds like. What an amazing invention!! So what it is, is you mix up your batter or filling, and pour it into the jar and bake it--in the jar. Once it's baked you can the jar and can freeze them or store them for up to a year! The little pie ones look just like little pies! Complete with the typical pie decorations (i.e lattice, hearts, stars, forkmarks, ect) and the little cakes look like little cakes, and the same goes for the cobblers! I plan on trying these very soon.
Amongst some other recipies I saw was the idea for "Fruit water." I've never thought of this before, but the picture was so beautifully elegant I simply must try it, purely for the looks of the drink!! What this is, is just fruit and ice in a pitcher of water! (bag!) But apparently, it gives off a very soft fruity flavor and makes the pitcher look beautiful!! I'm trying this immediately!
Tomorrow, I'm hoping Jeff will take me to the Farmers Market. I've been wanting to go for weeks and weeks and we just haven't. He told me he would, so now my going lands on my shoulders: it's up to me to get up and get us going. So much pressure!!
This is a random tid bit, that really, none of you probably care to know, but I'm going to tell you anyways: Maycie is popping horrible bunnies right now. The room stinks sooo bad! I think Jeff fed her meat before he left for work. >:-(
Ok, this is a ridiculously long post. I should divide it into two posts, but I'm not sure where to divide it. So....good luck reading this whole thing!!!
I'm off to play a game of solitaire with my new deck of "Dick and Jane" cards (remember them? They're really old book characters!...makes a very cute deck of cards!) in attempts to stay awake til Jeff comes. Maybe I'll even watch "Wizard of Oz" that movie has sounded fun lately.
Anyhoo...until next time!
I thought it would be fun to do a guestbook for those who come and visit my little corner of the world. It would be fun to hear from you, would you sign my guestbook?
